Yrieix
Yrieix Name meanings & History
The name Yrieix is derived from the Latin name Aredius, meaning "to be brave" or "to be strong.". Possibly a Gallicized form of Aredius. This was the name of a 6th-century Catholic saint born at Limoges, France, also known as Saint Aredius, who served for a time in the court of the Franks and then founded the monastery of Atane in Limousin. The monastery and also the surrounding village of Saint-Yrieux were named in his honor. Yrieix is predominantly used as a first name for baby boys, particularly among French-speaking communities in France and Canada. It is not commonly used in other parts of the world.
