Walthari
Walthari Name meanings & History
This name means 'ruler of armies' or 'commander of warriors' in Old High German. Variant of Waltheri. Walthari, son of Wacho by his third wife Silinga, was a king of the Lombards from 539 to 546. He was an infant king, and the rule was administered by Audoin. Audoin probably killed Waltari before he reached manhood, in order to gain the throne for himself in ca. 546, and led the Lombards into Pannonia. Procopius says he died of disease. He was the last of the Lething dynasty. This name is not commonly used in modern times but may be considered for parents who want a unique and strong name for their baby.
