Meaning
Compound name composed of the elements vivek (wisdom, right judgment) and ananda (happiness, joy): hence, “wisdom brings joy.” The name was borne by Narendra Nath Datta (1863-1902), a religious teacher who preached social responsibility and a universal, but diverse, religion. He was a disciple of Ramakrishna and, along with Shurda Devi, continued the teaching of Ramakrishna upon the master’s death.
