The heroine of Swedish writer Viktor Rydberg's popular novel Singoalla (1858) (published in English as The Wind Is My Lover), about a gypsy girl who falls in love with a knight (set in the Middle Ages). Singoalla is commonly used as a first name for newborn girls in Sweden, but it is not often used in other parts of the world.
