Philaé
Philaé Name meanings & History
The name Philaé has a French origin, derived from the Greek word "Philaia", meaning "loving kindness". Philaé means "one who has kindness and love for others". Possibly taken from Philae, the Latinized form of Φιλαί (Philai), the Greek name of an ancient island of the Nile which was the center of the worship of Isis and the site of temples dedicated to her. The island was flooded in 1970 and disappeared into the river, but its temple complex was moved to the island of Agilkia.Alternatively this may be a French variant of Philaeus or Phile. This name was used by French travel writers Alexandre and Sonia Poussin for their daughter born in 2004. Philaé is mainly used in France and is popular among French-speaking countries in Europe and Africa.
