Meanings: Derived from na’il (one who is successful in attaining one’s desires), which is from nala (to attain). The name was borne by a wife of the third rightly guided caliph, ‘Uthman ibn-‘Affan. She is remembered for trying to save her husband’s life by throwing herself in front of swords of a group of rebels who broke into their home to kill the caliph.
