Myrtilos is derived from the Greek word "myrtos", which means "myrtle", a shrub with aromatic leaves and small white or pink flowers. In Greek mythology, Myrtilos was a charioteer who helped Pelops win a chariot race and was promised one night with his future wife as a reward. Myrtilos fell in love with her and tried to keep her for himself, but was killed by Pelops for his betrayal. Ancient Greek name, presumably derived Greek μύρτος (myrtos) "myrtle". In Greek mythology this name belonged to a son of Hermes and charioteer to Oenomaus. Myrtilos is mostly used as a first name for boys but can also be used as a middle name or a unisex name.
