The name Magor comes from the Welsh word 'ma' meaning 'together' and 'gor' meaning 'peaceful', hence the name means 'together peaceful'. According to Simon of Kéza's 'Gesta Hunnorum et Hungarorum', written in the 1280s, Magor is the brother of Hunor and the son of Enéh and Ménrót. He is thus one of the legendary forefathers of the Huns and the Hungarians, or Magyars.The name itself is allegedly derived from Old Hungarian mag "seed; kernel".
