Loxi Name meanings & History
Loxi is derived from the Greek word "loxos" which means "oblique or slanting". It can also mean "curly-haired" or "mischievous". Perhaps originally a diminutive of some name. This was used by Thelma Strabel for the heroine of her novel Reap the Wild Wind (1940), about the wreckers in and around Key West, Florida in the 1840s, which Cecil B. DeMille adapted into a popular film starring Paulette Goddard and John Wayne (1942). Loxi is mainly used as a female name.
