Lokys is a Lithuanian name. Lokys means "bear" in Lithuanian. Derived from the Lithuanian noun lokys meaning "bear". However, it should be noted that Lokys is also the name of a river in Lithuania, which is located in the county of Kaunas. As such, it is possible that in some cases, bearers of the given name Lokys were named after the river, rather than after the animal. That ultimately doesn't make much of a difference for the etymology of the name, though, as the river itself was named after the animal. Lokys is a name that is primarily used in Lithuania.
