Kal-El
Kal-El Name meanings & History
Fictional, created in 1938 by American comic book writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian cartoonist Joe Shuster for the character Superman. The name Kal-El doesn't have a clear meaning on its own. However, when broken down, "Kal" means "vessel" and "El" means "of God" in Hebrew. This makes sense when considering that Kal-El is the birth name of Superman, a Kryptonian being with god-like powers. While Kal-El is technically a usable name for a baby boy, it is predominantly associated with the Superman character. As such, it is likely that parents who choose this name for their child are doing so as a nod to the comic book superhero.
