Jørund
Jørund Name meanings & History
Farmer, protector. Previously a dialectal variant of Jorunn, though more recently it has been given to boys, being the modern form of Jǫrundr, an Old Norse masculine name of uncertain meaning. The first element is probably derived from jara "battle, fight" (or from jór "stallion", as in Jorunn); the second element is vindr, which may mean "winner" (from vinna "to win") or "wind". Jørund is mostly used in Norway as a first name, although it is not very common. It can also be used as a surname.
