2.) GEFJUN (Female)
Usage: Scandinavian
Meanings: Ancient name believed to be connected with the verb gefa (to give) and the Gothic gabei (riches): hence, “bestower of wealth.” According to Norse mythology, Gefjun was an attendant of Frigg. She slept with the legendary king of Sweden, Gylfi, and was thus allowed to claim as much of his nation as she could plow within a twenty-four-hour period. She harnessed four giant oxen to a huge plow and gouged out a great tract of land, which she towed out to sea to become Zealand. The hole in Sweden soon filled with water to become Lake Malaren. Var: Gefion, Gefjon. (GEF-YOON)
