Elphin
Elphin Name meanings & History
From the Welsh word 'elfyn' meaning 'elf-like. Possibly a Welsh cognate of the Gaelic name Ailpein (see Alpin). In the Mabinogion, a collection of tales from Welsh myth, he was one of Arthur's warriors, the son of Gwyddno Long Shanks. In other sources he is the bard Taliesin's foster father. The name was also borne by an obscure British saint (see Elfin). Elphin is typically used as a baby boy's name in Wales and other parts of the UK. It is also occasionally used in other English-speaking countries.
