Dictys
Δικτυς(Ancient Greek)
Dictys Name meanings & History
Dictys is derived from the Greek word "diktyon" which translates to "fishing net". In Greek mythology, Dictys was the brother of King Polydectes of Seriphos who saved Perseus and his mother Danaë from drowning by providing them with a fishing net to escape. From Greek Δίκτυς (Diktys) meaning "of the nets", from δίκτυον (diktyon) "fishing-net". This was the name of several characters in Greek mythology, notably the fisherman of the island Seriphos who "with his net drew to land the chest in which were enclosed Perseus and his mother Danaë". Dictys is used as a first name for baby boys.
