Dejanira Name meanings & History
Dejanira is derived from the Greek name Deianeira, which means "man-destroyer" or "destroyer of her husband". In Greek mythology, Dejanira was the wife of the hero Hercules. She unwittingly caused his death by giving him a robe poisoned with the blood of the centaur Nessus, whom Hercules had killed earlier. Variant transcription of Deianira. This was the form used for the main belt asteroid 157 Dejanira (discovered in 1875 by French astronomer Alphonse Borrelly). Dejanira is typically used as a girl's name.
