Cremorna Name meanings & History

The origin of the name Cremorna is unclear, but it is believed to be of Irish or Scottish origin. Cremorna Garden is the former stage name of Mrs. Rosanna Wrayburn, a retired Victorian-era stage performer, in the 1930 novel Strong Poison by Dorothy L. Sayers. It is based on the name of Cremorne Gardens, which were popular pleasure gardens in London during the mid-19th century (from 1845 until the gardens closed in 1877), named for Thomas Dawson, 1st Viscount Cremorne (1725-1813; see the Irish place name Cremorne). Cremorna is not a popular name, and it is unlikely to be a name that many parents would choose for their child.
